Title: Horse Feathers
Year: 1932
Director: Norman Z. McLeod
Format: Blu-ray
Label: Arrow Academy
Notes: The fourth Marx Brothers film for Paramount threatens to show some staleness in the act. The academic setting is a bit too obvious. Groucho's opening skit and song-and-dance number is fun enough but also quite familiar after the three previous films.
There's more familiarity. Harpo plays a tune, Chico plays a tune and Zeppo does his straight man act. Corny puns and silly sight gags abound. HORSE FEATHERS tries to outdo its predecessors for excitement though and we visit more locations than ever before, see more elaborate stunts and even get a few comic turns from animals.
The film is mostly memorable for the excellent and anarchic football game at the finale. The influence of this sequence on subsequent comedy is hard to ignore.
